Panicked father on sinking SUV throws infant daughter to onlookers on shore

A video capturing the shocking moment that a desperate father standing on the roof of a sinking vehicle decided to throw his infant child to shore has gone viral on Chinese social media with many netizens questioning the dad's emergency parenting skills.

The incident occurred last Saturday in Changde, Hunan province as one family was returning home to celebrate Chinese New Year. To get home, they had to take a ferry across a lake. Unfortunately, for them, during the ride, their SUV happened to slip into the lake with them inside.

Luckily, they were all able to climb out to the roof of the vehicle. Once there, a father holding his baby daughter in his arms was faced with a difficult choice. Onlookers on the shore shouted for him to throw the infant to them. With the SUV sinking fast and time running out, the panicked man made his decision, hurling the infant a good 2 meters into the outstretched arms of the onlookers. Fortunately, they were a good catch.

In the same motion, the father plunged into the water himself, only to find that it wasn't nearly as deep as he had thought.

The man has since been criticized online for his spur of the moment decision to fling his child into even greater risk. Still, other web users have defended the father, arguing that it's easy to make a mistake in such a high-pressure, stressful circumstance.

Dengan SUV yang tenggelam dengan cepat dan waktu habis, pria panik membuat keputusannya, melemparkan bayi itu 2 meter yang bagus ke lengan terentang para penonton. Untungnya, mereka berhasil menangkap.

Dengan gerak yang sama, sang ayah terjun ke air sendiri, hanya untuk menemukan bahwa itu tidak sedalam yang dia duga.
